A record of the visit,
brushed by hand while you wait

A goshuin is calligraphy and a vermilion seal, written into a book you carry from temple to temple. It is not a souvenir stamp: it is given after you have paid your respects, and it stands as evidence that you were here and did so. Enmeiji offers two designs.

Goshuin seal depicting the Nio guardians

The two figures at the gate, drawn at full force. The design is the more dramatic of the pair, and carries a wish for the strength to keep misfortune out and the body sound.

Written down the centre is Namu Kanzeon Bosatsu, an invocation of Kannon, who is said to hear the cries of the world. The green seal impression carries her figure. To the left are the temple's mountain name, Tohokuzan, and its formal name, Enmei Zenji.
